USofCare Announces Policy Director – Kristin Wikelius

Published On June 7, 2018

Washington, DC – United States of Care (USofCare), a nonprofit focused on expanding health care to all Americans, has named Kristin Wikelius as the organization’s policy director. Wikelius will oversee state and federal policy work, enabling the organization to work towards finding solutions that put health care over politics.

Wikelius comes to US of Care with deep experience in the health policy sector.  Most recently, she served in the Office of Legislation at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) since 2010, where she worked on issues related to Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance.

Prior to her service at CMS, Wikelius worked on Capitol Hill for nearly a decade providing counsel to members of Congress, including Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey (D-CA).

At US of Care, Wikelius will lead the effort to identify state-based, scalable policy solutions to ensure that every single American has access to quality, affordable health care regardless of health status, social need, or income.

“We are excited Kristin has joined US of Care as our policy director,” said Emily Barson, executive director of USofCare. “She will bring a wealth of knowledge and creativity to the role developed through a career of finding policy solutions to real problems. Kristin understands that there is no one solution to the challenge of making health care more affordable; instead it will take an array of ideas to identify what makes the most impact for the greatest number of people.”
