USofCare Submits Comment Letter on New Rule that Ends an Exclusion of DACA Recipients from Eligibility for Health Coverage
United States of Care (USofCare) submitted comments on the proposed rule by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to end the exclusion of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients from eligibility to purchase affordable health insurance plans and obtain subsidies on the Affordable Care Act marketplace.
At USofCare we aim to build a future where all people have dependable access to high-quality health care that meets their needs regardless of who they are. We support CMS’s proposal, and our comments highlight some insights with the following themes:
- Coverage of DACA recipients is a benefit to this population and to the country
- CMS’s interpretation of the definition of “lawfully present” will lead to healthier communities
- Including children and young people in coverage aligns with state reforms
