The Intersection – United States of Care
Connecting People, Policy, and Politics
In a not-so-typical nonprofit “impact report,” we decided to showcase our work a little differently – we call this report The Intersection. The Intersection is a visually dynamic, interactive report that illustrates our organizational knowledge and impact. This report is released twice per year. See below for our newest and previous releases.
June 2026
Halfway through 2026, states have hit the ground running on health care affordability — and we’re right there with them. Legislative sessions are wrapping up, midterms are on the horizon, and states are stepping up as the real laboratories of health care reform.
Health care affordability is dominating both policy and kitchen table conversations. It’s something we’ve been hearing from people for years. Here’s how we’re turning those conversations into action:
- Supporting policy and advocacy work in nearly 20 states, advancing 9 pieces of legislation focused on lowering the cost of care
- Launching our Red State Affordability Cohort, partnering with six organizations in Arizona, Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio, Utah, and West Virginia
- Embarking soon on listening tours in six states through the Commonwealth Fund’s SHIFT Initiative
- Advising Congress and state policymakers on people-centered solutions to the affordability crisis
When people share their health care experiences, they’re telling us what’s at stake. We’re making sure policymakers hear it.
