USofCare Adds Chief Operating Officer and Other New Hires
USofCare is pleased to announce the hiring of three new staff members. Leigh Warren is US of Care’s new Chief Operating Officer (COO). Patricia Nava will serve as the State and Public Affairs Coordinator. Rebecca Kunau is the new Special Assistant for the team.

President Could Clear The Way For States To Bring Down Costs Of Prescription Drugs
In President Trump’s upcoming speech, we will be looking for two goals related to bringing down the cost of prescription drugs. There are several approaches the administration can take, including regulatory changes that empower states to take action. We will be watching to see what course the Administration decides to set.

First stop—Utah! USofCare listened to Utahns and found that health care is too expensive. We met with health care stakeholders, providers, policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, consumers, and patient advocates. While the issues, policies, and emotions involved are complicated, there is a willingness to work together to make it happen.

According to a new Gallup poll, Americans worry most about the availability and affordability of health care. States can act now to develop and implement policy solutions, and we support states’ wide range of approaches that fit their own needs. Health Affairs Blog: States That Have Aimed To Close The Coverage Gap—What Can We Learn?
The healthcare system could afford each person $10,000—if not for wasted costs and ineffective care. By closing the coverage gap, everyone in the U.S. could have access to health care. USofCare is partnering with Penn LDI to develop research-backed resources and approaches to policymakers. This report identifies common challenges encountered by states in attempts to close the coverage gap, summarizes important lessons learned, and highlights the themes across states.

Survey Results: Informed and Engaged Citizens’ Views on Health Care
Hart Research Associates and Public Opinion Strategies’ online survey showed us that 9 in 10 people want to put health care over politics. The survey also found that people prioritize quality, affordable health care over coverage.
