United States of Care Statement: Final Hospital OPPS Rule Moves System Toward Transparent, Affordable Coverage While Promoting Health Equity
Washington, D.C. — Following up on previous comments to the proposed rule, United States of Care released the following statement on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) 2024 Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) final rule:
The 2024 OPPS final rule builds on existing efforts to promote price transparency to ensure that people know what they’re paying for when they seek care while also holding hospitals to account. Furthermore, we are encouraged by the final rule’s focus on health equity and caregiver supports to ensure that all people, no matter their background, have access to needed health care services.
USofCare is grateful to CMS for the opportunity to comment on the proposed rule and we are pleased to see our comments incorporated in the final rule. Moving forward, we encourage CMS to further consider adopting policies related to site-neutrality in the hospital outpatient department setting as the agency identifies additional ways to improve access to care and cut costs for people.
