United States of Care Statement: Final Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Incorporates USofCare Priorities and Promotes Health Equity
Washington, D.C. — Following up on previous comments to the proposed rule, United States of Care released the following statement on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) finalized 2024 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule:
The finalized 2024 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) will benefit all people by increasing telehealth access, promoting health equity, and expanding access to care for those who have been underserved by our health care system. In addition to extending pandemic-era telehealth flexibilities, such as audio-only telehealth services, through the end of 2024, the MPFS also prioritizes people’s access to primary, dental, and behavioral health services by increasing provider payment and recognizing new provider categories, such as certain caregiver supports and community health workers, that are critical in maintaining and improving people’s health.
In addition, the finalized 2024 MPFS advances health equity for vulnerable populations by addressing health-related social needs and supporting community health integration to expand peoples’ access to peer support workers and care navigators. No matter their background, people deserve access to comprehensive affordable care that fits their unique needs.
USofCare is grateful to CMS for the opportunity to comment on the proposed rule and we are pleased to see our comments incorporated in the final rule.
