USofCare Federal Transition Memo: Administrative & Legislative Health Policy Priorities for 2021 and Beyond

Published On December 4, 2020

On Thursday, December 3, 2020, United States of Care submitted to the incoming Biden Administration and the 117th Congress, key priorities for improving our health care system and responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting economic downturn.

People know that we must build a better, more equitable health care system in the wake of COVID-19. In a recent national poll from United States of Care, we found that 83% of Americans feel it is more important now, as a result of the pandemic, that we make changes to our current health care system. And, coming out of this year’s elections, we know the largest concerns among voters are all related to health: the coronavirus pandemic (which, depending on the poll, ranks either first or third among voters’ concerns) and the economy, which has been deeply impacted by the pandemic itself.

We brought together over 20 USofCare Board, Founder’s and Entrepreneurs Council members, and in-house staff to think through immediate steps that should be taken to address the pain points we know exist in the health care system for people.

Our recommendations are in the following key areas:

  • Immediate COVID-19 Public Health and Economic Response
  • Protecting & Expanding Health Care Coverage
  • Meeting Mental Health Demand
  • Embedding Equity Into Our Health Care System

We look forward to working with the incoming Administration and Members of Congress to ensure, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, our health care system emerges stronger than it was before.
