United States of Care Provides Testimony in Support of Washington Legislation to Prohibit the Corporate Practice of Medicine

Published On February 5, 2026

Today, USofCare submitted testimony in support of SB 5387 to Washington’s House Health Care Committee. The bill would take steps to protect Washingtonians from the corporatization and financialization of health care to ensure that decisions impacting Washingtonians health care services are made by licensed medical providers, not corporate entities. As corporate health care ownership rises, SB 5387 provides a solution to help protect patients from rising concerns around negative impacts on patient safety, affordability, and access to care.

We applaud the bill’s sponsors for introducing this legislation and look forward to continuing to work with our state partners to protect Washingtonians from the effects of corporate – rather than community – motives.
