United States of Care Announces the Appointment of Three New Board Members

Washington, D.C. — Today, United States of Care announced the appointments of Dr. Sema Sgaier, Katrina Forrest, and Nick Loporcaro to the organization’s Board of Directors. These three health care changemakers will play a pivotal role in the organization’s strategic growth as USofCare begins its fifth year. 

USofCare CEO and co-founder Natalie Davis: “United States of Care is poised for immense growth as we enter our fifth year of existence. Adding these three immensely talented and accomplished individuals to our board of directors will serve to help facilitate that growth as we work towards a people-centered health care system that works for everyone.” 

United States of Care Board Chair Mario Molina: “We’re thrilled to welcome Katrina, Nick, and Dr. Sgaier to the United States of Care board. Their collective and individual passion for our mission and deep knowledge of health care policy will be crucial to United States of Care’s work to expand affordable health coverage to all people.”

The new board members bring a wealth of health care leadership experience, representing diverse backgrounds and knowledge. 

Dr. Sema Sgaier is the Co-Founder and CEO of Surgo Health, a healthcare technology company whose mission is to personalize health to improve outcomes and reduce inequities. At Surgo, Dr. Sgaier leads a multi-disciplinary team of data scientists, behavioral scientists, and technologists. She also co-founded and led Surgo Ventures and Surgo Foundation. She was Initiative Lead at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. She has close to 20 years of experience in healthcare working with companies, government partners, and donors. She is an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Washington”

Katrina Forrest is the Co-Executive Director of CityHealth, an initiative of the de Beaumont Foundation and Kaiser Permanente. She is an experienced leader in government relations, policy development, and partnerships, working to help cities thrive through proven, equity-centered policies that improve people’s daily quality of life, well-being, and health. 

Nick Loporcaro is Senior Operating Partner at The Vistria Group. He brings a wealth of life science and health care provider experience with expertise in value-based care. Before joining The Vistria Group in 2022, Loporcaro was the Chief Executive Officer at Landmark Health. He served in a leadership role at Landmark Health from 2018 and oversaw the transition to UnitedHealth (Optum).
