United States of Care Provides Testimony in Support of Delaware Legislation to Improve Health Care Affordability While Investing in Primary Care
On June 23rd, United States of Care submitted testimony in strong support of SS 2 for SB 1 during a Delaware House Appropriations Committee hearing. The bill would rebalance health care spending in Delaware by ensuring hospitals are reimbursed at a fair and predictable rate under the state employee plan and some commercial health plans, while boosting investment in primary care. Hospital prices are the leading driver of the state’s rising health care costs and premiums, with nearly 40 cents of every premium dollar going toward hospital costs. These efforts would curb unsustainable spending growth, generate savings for the state and consumers through reference-based pricing, and reduce the burden of medical debt for uninsured and high-deductible plan holders.
We applaud the bill’s sponsors and strongly encourage the committee to advance this legislation, and we look forward to continuing to work with our state partners to ensure all Delaware residents have access to accessible, affordable health care coverage.
