United States of Care Provides Testimony in Support of Vermont Legislation to to Address Health Care Consolidation
On March 12th, United States of Care submitted public testimony in support of H. 583 during a House Health Care Committee hearing. The bill would take steps to protect Vermonters from the corporatization and financialization of health care by providing greater oversight of health care mergers and acquisitions involving corporate actors and regulating the corporate practice of medicine. As corporate health care ownership rises, H 583 provides a solution to help protect patients from rising concerns around negative impacts on patient safety, affordability, and access to care.
We applaud the bill’s sponsors for introducing this legislation and look forward to continuing to work with our state partners to protect Vermonters from the effects of corporate – rather than community – motives.
