Statement from Emily Barson, Executive Director of USofCare on George Floyd and Events in Minnesota

Published On May 29, 2020

Washington, DC — Today, United States of Care issued the following statement in response to the death of George Floyd and the events in the Twin Cities of Minnesota.

Emily Barson, Executive Director, United States of Care:

“At United States of Care, we stand in solidarity with the community leaders, civil rights leaders, fellow Minnesotans, and the millions of Americans demanding justice for the senseless murder of George Floyd. At a time when the nation is grieving the loss of more than one hundred thousand Americans from the COVID-19 pandemic, with the burden of disease disproportionately impacting communities of color, this loss compounds the trauma. It shines a bright light on where we go wrong as a country. At United States of Care, we are committed to addressing systemic gaps and inequities in the health care system that undermine our nation’s credo of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. United States of Care stands with our employees, their families, our Minneapolis headquarters, and our communities as they pursue justice for George Floyd and urge everyone to remain safe during these turbulent times.”
