USofCare Issues Statement on Colorado’s Draft Report to Develop a State Coverage Option
Washington, D.C. – Today, United States of Care issued the following statement on Colorado’s draft report to create a state option for health coverage. The draft report is the result of HB19-1004, a bipartisan bill that passed earlier this year requiring two state agencies to develop a proposal to create a state health care coverage option. Public comment is open until October 25, 2019. The final report is due to the legislature on November 15, 2019 and will incorporate stakeholder feedback gathered by the two state agencies through the public comment period.
“We are encouraged by Colorado’s draft report and look forward to seeing the final report in November. This state-led initiative leverages existing infrastructure and will enable consumers across Colorado to access the care and coverage they need at an affordable price.” said Joanna Dornfeld, Senior Director of State Affairs.
USofCare also submitted formal comments to Governor Jared Polis prior to the release of the proposal highlighting USofCare’s public opinion research on Colorado consumer’s unique health care needs and challenges. The qualitative research highlights concerns from every day Coloradans who are seeking help to access affordable health care.
