USofCare Urges Congress to Reconsider Concerning Medicaid and Other Health Care Policy Changes
Washington, DC — Earlier today, the House Energy & Commerce Committee reported out their health care policy proposals for the FY25 budget reconciliation package. In response to the health provisions in the bill United States of Care issued the following statement:
“We can all agree that reforms that make our health programs work more efficiently is a goal that we should work towards,” said Natalie Davis, CEO and Co-Founder of United States of Care. “However, adding more bureaucracy to an already complicated health care system only makes it harder for people to stay healthy. The health care policy changes included in this bill will lead to millions of people across the country losing the coverage they need and increase costs for states and health care providers.”
“People tell us they want dependable health care coverage that is there for them when they need it; however, several of the provisions adopted today – if passed – would cause more instability and create additional hurdles for people to stay covered. Any changes made to Medicaid should be aimed at improving the program for enrollees, rather than reducing access to care, and all but guaranteeing that millions of people will lose the coverage they need. While there are more steps before the final passage of this bill, we urge policymakers to explore options that will lower health care costs for everyday people while promoting access to the coverage necessary for reaching optimal health.”
