New Resource: State Laws to Protect People’s Access to No-Cost Preventive Care
The Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) preventive services mandate requires most private health plans to provide people with access to preventive services – including cancer screenings, immunizations, contraception, and behavioral health assessments – for free. Unfortunately, federal uncertainty has the potential to undermine the effectiveness of the mandate, threatening people’s access to no-cost preventive care.
USofCare’s newest resource provides a state-by-state breakdown of laws that ensure continued – and in some cases, expanded – access to no-cost preventive care services broadly. For more information about access to preventive care more generally, check out United States of Care’s Preventive Services Hub.
