USofCare Submits Comments in Response to W&M’s Request for Information on Improving Health Care Access in Rural and Underserved Areas
On September 7, 2023, the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means (W&M) issued a request for information (RFI) seeking input from stakeholders on how the Committee can pursue solutions to reshape the U.S. health care system to focus on improving access to care in rural and underserved areas.
In its response, United States of Care (USofCare) shared its insights from its listening work in rural communities in South Carolina to talk about what people need in underserved areas. To address these access concerns, we focused our comments on promoting state-level solutions to align site of service payment, such as restricting unnecessary “facility fee” charges, and to incentivize innovative payment models, such as Pennsylvania’s innovative Rural Health Model, to promote quality over quantity in health care.
USofCare thanks the Committee for the opportunity to respond to this RFI. We look forward to working with the Committee and others in Congress to support solutions to ensure that everyone has access to affordable, comprehensive health care no matter where they live.
