Paola Maciel

Federal Policy & Advocacy Assistant

Paola is a California native and graduated from UC Irvine with a B.A. in Environmental Science and Policy. She was recently a Legislative Intern for the Office of Congressman Kevin Mullin (CA-15) where she assisted the legislative team by creating bill recommendations, attending briefings, and drafting constituent letters. Before her time at Congressman Mullin’s office, she interned at the UC Irvine Center for Environmental Biology where she organized research materials, collected and analyzed data on native plants, and profiled beach erosion. She also worked as a Development Project Coordinator at Tait & Associates, Inc. where she supported development projects by editing and writing memos, conducting regulatory research, and communicating with development stakeholders such as city planning offices, engineers, and architects.

Most recently, she worked as a baker – often waking up for her 4:00 AM shifts to make croissants, muffins, cookies, and more.

In her free time, she loves staying creative by painting, drawing, writing, cooking, and of course – baking. She also enjoys watching soccer games and exploring DC’s food scene.
