James Tatum is the Director of Institutional Philanthropy and part of the development team at United States of Care. He is passionate about cultivating funding partnerships to support the idea that everyone should have access to quality, affordable health care regardless of health status, social need, or income.
Previously, James held various roles in fundraising over 14 years at the Economic Policy Institute. During that time, he cultivated individual, foundation, and other institutional donors to support research and policy development focused on the economic concerns of working families, with a particular eye to helping the people and communities who were suffering the most during economic downturns.
James is an alumnus of Guilford College where he earned his B.A. in Political Science. He has a master’s degree in Social and Public Policy from Georgetown University. He lives in Arlington, VA outside Washington, DC and appreciates being in such a dynamic region where many people are trying their best to make a positive impact on the world. One favorite pastime is reading stories to his niece, which gives him a chance to break out his dramatic voices! He also enjoys seeking out great stories in any format, getting outdoors whenever possible and exploring places both new and familiar.
