Inside Health Policy: New Mexico Could Become First State To Pass Medicaid Buy-In

State politicians and advocacy groups in New Mexico expect the state to pass a Medicaid buy-in program during the 2019 legislative session and hope the plan will serve as a model for other states considering the option. Legislatures in New Mexico and Delaware have passed resolutions to study the creation of a Medicaid buy-in program and at least nine other state legislatures have introduced buy-in legislation, but no state has yet enacted a Medicaid buy-in law.
